“I’m not sure when I started watching Loulou watch the iPad, but at some point it became mesmerizing. There was a strange beauty in the way the light played on her face. It was fascinating to see how rapt she became—disappearing so completely into a universe beyond the screen.
I began to think a great deal about her relationship with technology. The extraordinary gravitational pull it exerts.
Loulou is the first generation of children who will grow up like this. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but it’s certainly the beginning of a different kind of childhood, and possibly, a different kind of child.
My piece is a proof of concept.
Ideally, you should be standing in a very large dark room. Loulou’s face slowly appearing large, like planets, on the walls around you, until you’re surrounded by a galaxy of heads.”
