ALONE TOGETHER is a phone application that enables individuals to act as rented family members to people feeling lonely and searching for companionship. The app merges GPT and digital human technology with film production to produce a unique, self-created theatre experience, blurring the line between reality and fiction.

ALONE TOGETHER is a story about Kya, a university dropout who works for the Alone Together Agency as a professional stand-in. Throughout the app experience, players interact with AI clients seeking companionship and connection. There are four episodes in which players experience the complexities of human relationships and face their feelings of isolation.

EPISODE 1 – “Forgive”
Sara lost her husband almost a year ago, and her daughter has been estranged since. Can you help her reconnect with her daughter and find forgiveness on the anniversary of her husband’s death?

EPISODE 2 – “Inspire”
Ben has retreated from society and refuses to leave his bedroom. His parents have hired a stand-in sister to try and coax him out. Can you inspire him to rejoin the world?

EPISODE 3 – “Release”
Ana is struggling with a painful breakup and the shame of how she handled herself. She hires a stand-in ex to try and redo the breakup, but the roles are reversed. Can you help her release her emotions and move forward?

EPISODE 4 – “Connection”
Kya is a lonely university dropout searching for a sense of belonging. Can you connect with her and help her find her place?

Inspired by the concept of a family rental agency, ALONE TOGETHER invites you to step into the shoes of a professional stand-in and weave in and out of the lives of lonely people. With voice recognition and AI, your interactions are unpredictable and spontaneous, creating a sense of agency and autonomy.
