“Slumberland is created to carry stories about insomnia in a way where the participants can find rest in listening in a live, collective experience.”
Emma Bexell, Co-Author, to Docubase
SLUMBERLAND is a live virtual reality performance that journeys beyond the cosmos to a place of collective rest and reflection. From such a distance, audiences bear witness to the stories of earth’s sleepless youth, all while freely wandering through strangers’ bedrooms, catching talking stars as they fall from the heavens, and exploring new dimensions of empathy that can only exist outside of physical space.
Created from ongoing interviews about insomnia with young adults around the world, SLUMBERLAND is an unparalleled hybrid of documentary audio theater, game design and immersive installation.
The piece is performed remotely (from anywhere) and live-streamed (to anywhere), utilizing motion-capture technology on one end and Oculus VR headsets on the other.
