CURRENT is a site-specific audio installation that leads you on a walk through Lower Manhattan. The project can be accessed via a custom website, using your own mobile device and headphones. CURRENT immerses participants using binaural sound, and environmental recordings to draw together a narrative that includes themes of water, time, construction, destruction, synchronicity, and resilience.

The Ambisonic mic that was used to develop the project is a capsule that has four microphones on it so it records 360 sound to give an accurate sonic landscape.The audio plays at specific times of day, timed for theatricality of light in Lower Manhattan, and can only be accessed at the geographical start point. The custom web-based platform, built by OpenEndedGroup, gives the participant no control of the audio, which begins spontaneously at the start time for each participant, who is then guided on a walk by intertwining narrators and spatialize sound design, recorded on location.
