With the digital elements of our project, we have tried to balance advocacy, story, and an immersive experience to create deeper empathy with migrants. We aim to give our audiences a place to learn and commit to action through stories from activists and migrants themselves.

Who Is Dayani Cristal? tells the story of a migrant who found himself in the deadly stretch of desert known as “the corridor of death” and shows how one life becomes testimony to the tragic results of the U.S. war on immigration. As the real-life drama unfolds we see this John Doe, denied an identity at his point of death, become a living and breathing human being with an important life story.
The life and death of this man, and the circumstances surrounding his journey, provide us an opportunity through the digital elements of our project to tell the full story of migration through the Americas, including why people leave, what dangers they encounter on their journeys, and what fate awaits them on the other side of the border should they reach it.
