_8th Wall

8th Wall is a platform to develop augmented reality experiences that works on all devices—no app required

8th wall is a web-based augmented reality (WebAR) platform that enables users to create AR experiences that work without an app in any mobile device through a browser. It automatically makes your Web AR content available across smartphones, computers and AR and VR headsets. 8th Wall WebAR reaches 3.5 billion smartphones worldwide across iOS and Android devices. No app is required. This allows more users to experience the project and increases engagement with it.

8th Wall’s surface detection, lighting estimation and relative scale lets users experience realistic 3D assets, volumetric video and animations in their own environment without the need to resize content. Moreover developers can anchor 3D objects to attachment points or apply custom designs to a face mesh to create high-quality face filters. 8th Wall supports popular 3D frameworks such as A-Frame, three.js, Babylon.js, PlayCanvas and more. Its main characteristics for developers are:

  • Cloud-based text editor including auto-complete, an asset viewer, developer keybindings and support for popular frameworks such as React and Vue.js.
  • Allows multiple people to work on the same project simultaneously, review incoming changes, resolve conflicts and view diffs before landing.
  • Publish and rollback multiple deployment states instantly. Includes a password-protected staging environment.
