Although they came in pursuit of short-term profits, the companies left behind a legacy that can still be seen today in the cultures, and in the bloodlines, of people and communities around the world.

Empire Interactive is a highly interactive documentary that uses innovative techniques to present online video. The creative interface of the project lets the user move between different videos and storylines. Changing from chapter to chapter, this interface strongly complements the story, giving insight into the long-term effects of Dutch colonialism.
