“What if you could play the human vocal tract like a musical instrument?”

Neil Thapen, Author.

In Pink Trombone, Neil Thapen, a researcher at the Academy of Sciences Institute of Mathematics in the Czech Republic, built an interactive online visualization of the vocal tract where the user can generate sounds by controlling different parameters, from the position of the tongue to the aperture of the oral and nasal cavities. Using digital waveguide synthesis, this project creates a playful way to learn how vocal sounds are produced.
